Enabling Electronic Trading with Suppliers on Pubnet
A Checklist for Retailers
- Verify that your Point-of-Sale (POS) system will support electronic trading (EDI) via a connection to Pubnet. If you’re not sure, call your POS system provider’s support team.
- Verify that you have a valid SAN (standard address number). For more information on the SAN, visit the SAN Agency’s website at www.isbn.org and follow the links to the SAN. If you do not have a SAN, you can apply for one on-line (The cost for a SAN is $150).
- After you have a SAN, you can then register for a Pubnet EDI mailbox. The registration fee is $75 and is the only fee you will ever pay for electronic trading on Pubnet!
- About a week after submitting your Pubnet registration, you will receive an email “Welcome Letter” from the Pubnet Tech Support team with all the information you will need to setup your POS system to connect to Pubnet. Both your POS support team and the Pubnet support team will be able to help if you have any questions during the setup.
- Before you send your first purchase order electronically (EDI) to a supplier, you will need to contact their customer service team to let them know you would like to trade with them on Pubnet. They will need your SAN number in order to setup your account correctly.
- Use DCTS (Document Cycle Tracking System) to track your first PO to verify that it was received and that a PO Acknowledgement has been sent back.
- Enjoy not having to print, fax, mail, or phone in your orders!!!
