Holtzbrinck Publishers (VHPS) changes name to Macmillan (MPS)
Holtzbrinck Publishers will be changing to our name to
Macmillan. Macmillan is one of the most venerable and respected names in
publishing and is already used in over 70 countries for
Holtzbrinck’s English language publishing operations. The name
change from Holtzbrinck to Macmillan brings a unified worldwide presence
to one of the largest publishing groups in the world. Our ownership,
Verlagsgruppe Georg Von Holtzbrinck GmbH, remains unchanged.
This name change is indicative of our growing position as a
global media company in an increasingly global media market. By using the
Macmillan name for all of our English language publishing, we will be
able to take advantage of the strength of the brand while more fully
leveraging our investments in print and digital publishing, and more
clearly position ourselves for the future. The Macmillan name, which has
a distinguished publishing history as well as a long tradition of
innovation, fits uniquely with the high quality standards we offer to our
authors, customers and readers.
Our new name will affect the corporate and consolidated
functions that have been using the Holtzbrinck name in the U.S. including
the executive offices, trade publishing sales, operations, IT, legal,
finance, human resources and other centralized functions. In addition,
Audio Renaissance, the audio publishing imprint of Holtzbrinck, will now
be known as Macmillan Audio. Apart from these changes, the names of the
company’s many publishers, divisions and imprints in trade
publishing, educational publishing, magazines, and digital media, will
continue unchanged.
The Macmillan name has recently reverted back to our ownership.
Currently there are and will continue to be some titles sold by
McGraw-Hill under the Macmillan name specifically for the K-12 school
market. Those products should continue to be ordered and associated with
them. In addition, there are several books currently available that use
Macmillan in their title that are sold by other publishers.
Our distribution center in Gordonsville, Virginia will change
its name from VHPS to MPS. Our remittance address remains unchanged;
however payments should be made to “MPS” as of October 9.

Not receiving McGraw-Hill POAs?
It has come to Pubnet’s attention that some bookstores are
not receiving Purchase Order Acknowledgments (POAs) from their
McGraw-Hill (SAN 200254X) purchase orders.
Pubnet is now positioned to arrange for automatic receipt of POAs for any
customer wishing to receive POAs from McGraw-Hill.
If you currently are not receiving POAs from McGraw-Hill and
wish to receive them in the future, please send your store name and SAN
to info@pubnet.org. Pubnet and
McGraw-Hill will update our records weekly to ensure the receipt of POAs.
