 A New Publisher Responds to Rapid Response
 
 

John Hopkins University Press has joined Rapid Response.

Rapid Response is the publishing industry's fastest way for bookstores to receive order acknowledgements. The program delivers POAs (purchase order acknowledgements) within 15 minutes of the receipt of ALL orders placed during normal business hours.

Now or during the next rush season, in conjunction with DCTS -- bookstores can enter orders, receive acknowledgements, track their order status and view documents associated with those orders in one convenient location, making ordering easier and more efficient for everyone.

If you need more information about placing orders through Pubnet, either through your POS system or with POW, contact Technical Support.

Indigo Books & Music Inc., (TSE: IDG) has been full tested and promoted to the Pubnet community, now accepting CBISAC 4010 EDI documents. Many publishers and booksellers are set to join the community as well in the coming weeks so stay tuned…

 Next Up — General Merchandise
 
 

Following the requirement of POA responses within 24 hours, the introduction of Rapid Response and the release of DCTS; Pubnet is set to include General Merchandise to its line-up of time-saving features.

Currently General Merchandise ordering is in beta-testing with select POS and General Merchandise vendors. The new ordering module will take the time-tested functionality of book ordering available through your POS vendor or Pubnet POW account, and make it available for ordering General Merchandise like athletic clothing, stationary, computer accessories and much more…

Problem Solved: Duplicate POAs from Aspen Publishing
 
 

As many in the community are aware, Aspen Publishing had been sending duplicate POAs through Pubnet for some time. Thanks to the diligent work of Pubnet Technical Support in unison with Aspen Publishing this problem has now been corrected. Now, only single POAs are being sent by Aspen Publishing in response to all POs.

“Since the Bowker acquisition of Pubnet, Technical Support’s goal has been improving the quality of the ordering system for the entire community” said Don Nelson Director of Technical Support. He continues, “The result of this goal is to see that every Pubnet member receives the performance they need and require for all their book ordering needs, which we are accomplishing every day.”

Please support us in this effort by reporting any problems you may have to Technical Support for investigation and resolution.

Pubnet will be presenting at 11:00 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. on April 16th in the Convention Center—Room 206, 2nd Floor.

This session will present how EDI (electronic data interchange), the World Wide Web and other electronic technologies can increase efficiency and productivity within the College Book Trade Industry. As part of the McGraw-Hill Global Transformation Project (GTP), electronic order processing systems will be unavailable during our upgrade on Thursday, April 1, 2004 and Friday, April 2, 2004.

BookNet, Canada's Book Industry Organization, has selected Pubnet to be the Canadian industry's exclusive electronic data interchange (EDI) vendor. Pubnet will supply the Canadian book industry with a centralized EDI trading network and assist in efforts to advance the nation's supply chain efficiency.
