We continue our journey down the path of increasing supply chain efficiencies by making strides in enhancing your Pubnet services. Currently the General Merchandise Module is in the final stages of beta testing, we are working on getting a greater number of publishers on Rapid Response, but most importantly, we are listening to you, our users, about how we can continue to do better.

DCTS, an additional service for ALL Pubnet members at no extra cost, gives you visibility to Pubnet documents like POs, POAs , invoices, and shipment notices in one place. In addition to this visibility, it also offers the ability to track order shipments, create customized reports on your orders and save those reports for future reference.

Looking for faster order acknowledgements? The Publishing industry's fastest way for bookstores to receive order acknowledgements is Pubnet’s Rapid Response. Publishers on the Rapid Response system dedicate themselves to returning POAs with 15 minutes of bookseller’s PO request. And in conjunction with DCTS -- bookstores can enter orders, receive acknowledgements, track their order status and view documents associated with those orders in one convenient location.

This service requires no extra work for bookstores. Publishers on the Rapid Response network receive and return ALL Pubnet orders with 15 minutes. To utilize the service enter orders with Pubnet via your POS system or use our web-based Pubnet Ordering Wizard (POW!) located at http://www.pubnet.com/.

This Year’s Pubnet’s User Group Conference, held in Peabody, MA on October 2nd and 3rd, was a fabulous success due in no small part to all those who participated. The conference brought together publishers, POS vendors, bookstores and EDI developers in an open forum that encouraged the exchange of information to improve electronic book ordering from end-to-end.

Michael Cairns, President of R.R. Bowker owner of PubEasy, gave a thought provoking presentation concerning the status and future of the publishing industry entitled, Building an Intelligent Publishing Supply Chain.

Cairns presentation calls on the industry to “come together in a more collaborative and flexible [manner] for the good of all participants.” This gathering is essential, insisted Cairns, to confront structural flaws and inefficiencies found throughout the industry.
